February 11, 2007

Well, all I have really been able to do is take a closer look at the truck
and get a little more organized.

My friend Gene lent me an engine hoist and stand, and I was able to get the
engines out of the bed.

I lifted the rear end up off the ground onto some jack stands, and began
taking some of the bad interior parts out.

I removed the Maverick seats, and managed to find a correct looking bench
seat on the internet. I put that in, and although it fits fine, it is
now obvious why there were buckets in there before - the shifter hits the
seat!

I am planning on moving that forward when the time comes to install the C4.

I also pulled up the floor covering, which looks like some kind of rubber
mat. It was all cracked and ripped, and was also keeping lots of moisture
trapped underneath it.

Where did the moisture come from? The cowl is very rusty! :(

I also noticed that there appears to be an original looking fire extinguisher
and a canister mounted to the wall behind the passenger seat.

The cannister still has 5 emergency flares in it! They look *real* old!

I did get the V8 started - but it runs very poorly. Not sure why yet, but
I am going to assume it it the carburetor at this point.
